AI Usage Policy

Kırıkkale University Journal of Social Sciences (KUSBD) attaches great importance to transparency, academic integrity, and ethical principles in scientific publishing. In this context, the following rules regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based tools are applied:

1. Ethically Appropriate Use

AI-based tools may only be used in an auxiliary capacity. Such uses include:

  • Language and writing support (correction of spelling errors, improving fluency)
  • Formatting (tables, figures, citation styles, etc.)
  • Translation assistance
  • Guidance in literature review (with the accuracy of sources to be verified by the author)
  • Technical assistance in statistical analysis processes (coding, methodological explanation, etc.)
  • Suggestions on text structure or organization

2. Ethically Inappropriate Use

The use of AI tools for the following purposes is not permitted:

  • Writing an entire manuscript or a part of it
  • Conducting the literature review directly through AI or generating fabricated sources
  • Producing new data or results, or distorting existing data
  • Manipulating findings or compromising the integrity of the research
  • Delegating the responsibilities of the author, reviewer, or editor to AI

3. Declaration Requirement

  • Authors are obliged to declare the use of AI tools in their manuscripts through an “AI Usage Statement.”
  • If AI tools have been used, the tool’s name, purpose of use, and the section(s) in which it was employed must be explicitly stated.
  • If no AI tools were used, the statement “No AI-based tools were used in this study.” must be included.

4. Responsibility

  • The authors bear full responsibility for the scientific content, accuracy, and ethical compliance of the study.
  • Under no circumstances can AI tools be listed as authors or assume scientific responsibility.
  • All responsibility arising from the incorrect, misleading, or unethical use of AI rests entirely with the authors.

5. Editorial Rights

  • KUSBD reserves the right to reject or retract any manuscript if undeclared or unethical use of AI tools is detected.
